Course Description

This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities.

The qualification is designed to enable three (3) specialised occupational outcome pathways depending on elective options which will be reflected as:

  • Diploma of Community Services (Case Management)
  • Diploma of Community Services (Social Housing)
  • Diploma of Community Services (Statutory and forensic child, youth and family welfare)

Apex has chosen the specialisation in ‘Case Management’ for its students.

To achieve this qualification, the students must have completed a minimum of 100 hours of work experience as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency. APEX’s training program includes 360 hrs of work placement to ensure students have opportunities to practice their skills in a real work environment.

Mode of Study

The 16 units of competency are delivered throughout the 104 weeks. The qualification is delivered over 8 terms of tuition and 2 terms of work placement (each term is 9 weeks in duration).

Classroom based learning and up to one-third of the course may be delivered online.

Assessment

Assessments are conducted during training sessions and on completion of training for each unit to determine if the learner is competent. The assessments are conducted using knowledge and skills assessments. Assessment methods may include: Assignment, Questioning (Oral/Written), Case Study, Third Party Report, In Class Activities, Observations, Role Play and RPL.

All the above listed units of competency must be completed to receive the BSB80120 Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) qualification.

RPL and Exemptions

Apex will recognise the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other RTO’s, upon verification with the issuing organisation. RPL and Credit Transfer are available for students to access prior to enrolment. More information is available in our student handbook.

Entry Requirements and Pre-Requisites

The course will be available for those students who are 18 years or older and have completed Year 12. International Students are also required to have an English ability at the IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

There are no pre-requisites for this qualification.

Target Group

Domestic and overseas students who require skills in commercial cookery as well as those with substantial experience in cookery gained through employment but who lack a formal qualification.
